Lock Up Those Checks
Blank business checks are worth more than you think. It's not unusual for an employee to take some blank checks from the checkbook and use them like money. If you don't reconcile your bank account right after you receive your statement and the embezzler steals checks from the end of the book it could be some time before you're alerted to a problem. What to do? Keep only enough checks in the book for immediate needs, say two weeks, and lock the rest in a secure file cabinet or safe.
